Why do you keep playing video games?
It's always an interesting question to me. Replys I have, gotten in my life, from asking this question are usually as followed: I just simply love gaming,video games are fun, and occasionally I got nothing else to do.
Why do we keep tacking hours up playing consoles, computers, and portable systems?
Well for some it's probably the feeling you get when you totally pwn that noob heading for the sniper rifle. Others it could just be to see the next part of the story and watch as the character you have been helping guide through level after level final achieve what he or she is seeking. I know I love seeing Mario rescue peach each and every castle no matter how much time i spent trying to get past flaming balls of fire. My point being that many gamers game for different reasons and to me they are all interesting. I game for quite a few reasons myself. One of those reasons being I enjoy competitive gaming. I enjoy the trash talk that takes place in the lobby of halo 3 matches, TF2 vent servers, and other games mostly because it's all in good fun. I hope nobody truely thinks that they are confused sexually, shouldn't be presently breathing, or even just straight up dumb because of something simply said to them over xbox live/vent/or anything other team speak program. Yes, people do exist that are better then you at a video game and hopefully people exist who are worse then you at them, but don't fret even if you don't enjoy competitive gaming as much as others. You could always pick to get all coozy and just sit by yourself playing single player wondering how the story in your game will unfold. Will Mario ever truely save peach? Will the final fantasy your playing ever come to an end? Maybe you don't even want it to end. Either way their are many reasons to game and that's why I personally love gaming. If i want to just kill some time i play cube runner on my Iphone while waiting in the dentist office, in line at the movies, or whatever situation i may just feel it's time to zone out and dodge cubes.
To just feeling like I want to not do anything on my day off except maybe play an RPG by myself while chilling on my couch at home or other days where I feel the need to just be exceptionally violent, but I can't so I'll just settle for blowing people up in TF2 or winning/losing points playing some arena games. Video Games are in no way that expensive either. Whether it be saving a little money to buy a basic PC to run some budget games like CS or TF2. To just scoring a Wii to maybe do some fitness or play the new mario game. I work a min wage job and finally managed to save enough money to grab a new PC for upcoming games im looking forward to and their will always be games that arn't a killer on your hardware like WoW or CS where you can still have fun for cheap.

That's just semantics. There is nothing wrong with addiction as you implicitly define it, so there's no point in even saying what you're saying.
There's no justification for doing something because of an addiction. It's senseless, it only leads to a goal set by nature- consumption and reprudction with a complete disregard for anything else (like suffering, for example), there's everything wrong with it because it's just there becasue it's there, not because someone acually sat and thought about it and came up with this brilliant idea of animals eating eachother alive and having the vast majority of human population suffer to an unbearable degree on a daily basis.

If you're having trouble understanding what I'm writing, don't go assuming that they're just randomly put together, perhaps you've got a bit of dyslexia if that's all you see when you try to read my comments (or just shear stupidity).
Yes, there's everything wrong with something that's in place just because it is, as oppose to something being where it is because of a thoroughly thought through process taking more than just consumption and reproduction into account (such as self awareness/consciousness, suffering, substainability/efficiency).

and no, DNA molecules are not "just there because they are there", which is also equally retarded. DNA is there (here) because they have the ability to replicate, and over billions of years have perfected systems to aid in their replication - that's where we come in. Bioengineered crops are only a good idea because they aid (we think) in the further replication and propagation of our genes. If they didn't, then they wouldn't be a good idea. Consciousness is overrated, and does in no way make us better suited to our particular niche than any other animal in animal kingdom - I think you are testament to that.

Have you looked up the definition for addiction yet?
You can make a sound with practically anything, and most things make different sounds, a hollow skull would most likely have a unique sound to it when interacted with by variou means. I guess you're just grasping for straws and willfully ignorant of obvious facts to try to make your empty insults and spew your maligning rhetoric.
It's funny, a family member of mine just had a session teaching this (that different objects can make different sounds when interracted with by various means) to a bunch of kids in kinder garden, maybe you should spend some time there and learn some really cool stuff!

"video game addiction" is a ridiculously stupid buzzword. You can't be addicted to video games any more than the guy that spends 80 hours a week at his job is addicted to working.
Drug addictions are real, physical problems. "Entertainment" addictions are not.

I would categorize video game addiction to same level of danger as caffeine addiction or other harmless substance, which you can't really call addictions to start with. Allthough there are people in China who just make us all look bad with their internet camps etc.

Anybody that claims they're addicted to caffeine is just as bad as the parents crying out about video game addiction.
Bottom line is, if you have to escape reality (alcohol, drugs, caffeine, "partying," video games, porn, TV, work obsession, etc) all the time, there's something wrong. You need to wake up and stop lying to yourself about your quality of life. Learn to do what you ENJOY (and yes, it can definitely be any of the above things that I listed), and you will be a better person.
Take charge of your own life, whether that means playing a sport you love, getting a job, getting in shape, playing a video game competitively, getting out of shape, going back to school, going out, WHATEVER. It can be anything, there's nothing inherently destructive about entertainment (video games) unless you're using it to escape the realities of your surroundings.
(Rereading that, it sounds like I'm denouncing you just cause I'm replying to you. Don't take it that way, this is an open comment on my view of the world at large.)
