An Open Letter to the WoM Readers

Dear WoM Readers Old and New,
I would like to dedicate this entry to the process of creating blog good content based on a game played by millions people. The concept behind this has been explored but not in the depth that I believe that is necessary in order to give our readers an accurate perspective on what exactly it takes to do the job. I'm no Hunter S. Thompson: searching for inspiration in the perpetually numbing haze of reality-altering substances both legal and not. (Though it seemed to work for him, for a time.) No, my inspiration stems from the nigh-infinite well of ideas and words sprung forth from the very people who read my words.

I know that there are some on WoW Riot who are prolific writers, able to update content 3-5 times in a single day. Usually they'll mix in politics, current events and general gaming news to keep their content fresh and that works for them. This usually entails being an RSS feed addict or simply following Digg and Reddit and stealing whatever is popular there.

Others, focus on the happenings in the lives of high rated/competitive WoW players with an emphasis on the seriously life-threatening dramatic conflicts of particular battlegroups or teams. These conflicts usually involve some sort of rivalry, rumor (true or not) and other such happenings which affect about three people.

I take a slightly different approach in both how I generate content as well as the actual content itself. You've seen a couple of them. Going to the beach. Having a little bit of alcohol. Finding new ways to use incomplete sentences. I will not, however, talk about dramatic things for the sake of getting a few Likes. I may poke fun at people, including myself. But I personally feel that focusing the content on who's chakra was drained by whom, even for a few seconds, is not really adding anything to the community.

It's perfectly fine that others choose this method and it IS effective in gaining popularity. But, my entries are a bit different than others and I will remain that way. Whether or not you like the content I generate from the hours of research done that results in the 900 or so odd words you read 2-3 times a week is always up in the air. While I feel I know you, my audience, there is no way I can hope to live up to the expectations that each entry brings. I attempt to, of course. In my mind, I'm only as good as the last thing I wrote.

This is blog entry #6. I'm still new. The only thing I can promise you, my audience, is that in whatever content I write or record dedicated to the Player versus Player aspect of this game, that I will focus on the needs and desires of you, the readers. Hopefully I'll do it in a way that is not only entertaining but makes us, the World of Warcraft Player Community, better. Not just better players, but better people. This is my goal, and I dedicate everything I have to it.

Thank you for the positive feedback and I hope to continue creating things worth reading. It's a passion of mine and I hope you see it evident in every word typed or spoken from me. If you have any suggestions for how we can improve as a community or how I can improve on my writing, I am listening. As far as content goes, I have a deep well and will continue to draw from it. I felt it appropriate to set aside the humor and sarcasm for one entry, and tell you how much I appreciate you, even if you are a bit mean at times and like Anna's cleavage a bit too much.
