I’m excited to announce that the 4 minute prelude to Illegal Danish 3 will be released today right here on Gameriot Myndflame! It is a frame by frame parody of the Starcraft 2 Cinematic trailer recreated inside the World of Warcraft universe utilizing composites and 3D visual effects not quite like anything that has ever been done before in Machinima.
The original Illegal Danish movie won five first place awards in the Blizzard Movie Contest (Best Comedy, Editing, Music, Dialogue and Action Scene), with nearly 400,000 views and a rating of 4.93 on WCM.
While skilled ninjas probably won't learn new arena tricks from a video like this, they can certainly pick up some editing tips. As much as I enjoy the Neilyo series, sometimes it really feel like low budget Hong Kong kong fu movies from the 80's next to the Hollywood productions like this. Check it out! You won't be disappointed!
Season 7 Gear Vs New Resilience
I was disappointed again as Blizzard took the "more of the same" approach with PVP gear. While PVEers get exciting new set bonus and stat allocations at every tier, S5/S6/S7 gear so far have the exact same stat allocations and set bonus, the only difference is item level. It is very boring, can we please mix it up a little?
It will be very difficult for PVP neck/ring/cape to compete with PVE equivalents as they are again, four-stats and suffer from diminishing returns. Unfortunately, the badge ring released so far has haste which is about as worthless as it gets for a PVP stat. The scary part is even if you completely discount haste from that ring, it is still superior to the PVP equivalent. Assuming you already have 5% hit, 50 Hit / 50 Armor Penetration cancel each other out, and 76 agility is superior to 50 stamina / 50 attack power. I will definitely replace the S6 ring with it.
Having said that, even the pure PVP geared rogue (and there will be a lot more of them in 3.2) will see a big damage increase. The average PVP geared rogue today is probably around 3600 AP with 188 DPS daggers (which translates into 2632 AP) or a net total of 6232 AP. The new S7 dagger is 30 DPS higher or +420 AP, every single slot coupled with profession/epic gem changes will add on average, at least 30 more AP for another +500-600 in AP. Throw in the 2-3% crit from crit ratings and agility, you are looking at a 15% damage increase for white attacks, but specials/poisons of course have huge static damage components that do not scale with gear nearly as much , so we are probably looking at a 12% increase in damage, which cancels out the resilience increase almost completely.
However, players who wear 800 resilience today will upgrade themselves to 1000+ in 3.2, which means higher crit damage penalties, and with less PVE gear in the mix, the game will still slow down quite a bit. Still, rogues with access to PVE neck/ring/cape/trinket WITHOUT haste/expertise ratings will still use them in place of PVP equivalents, so for live play I don't see a big problem. The increased survivability should reduce the chance of random rogue gibs as well, and gives RMP an easier time vs cleave.
What About Tournament Servers With S5 Gear?
This is where I sincerely hope Blizzard can step up to the plate and upgrade the tournament server to 3.2 gear. The new resilience change is perfect for S7 gear, but S5 gear can stack similar resilience numbers while dishing out much less damage. DK/lock/druid with 1000 resilience each against RMP in S5 gear? It won't be pretty.
Nobody wants to read yesterday's news, that is why tournaments should be as close to live play as possible. Back in TBC, the Korean tournaments were played with best possible gear, including warglaive rogues showing off our class in its full glory. The Blizzard tournament realms were special Olympics with outdated S2 gear, and how many times did we see HON/COM bring a warrior/lock/druid team to 5-10% but could not score the finishing blow?
Healing is much more powerful in WOTLK than it was in TBC, and boring turtling teams would be much more popular if burst is not as strong as it is today. The S7 gear set would bring the best balance between damage and survivability. S5 is way too defensive with the new resilience change.
Let Enforcer play his game please, it is beautiful to watch and even the NBA changed rules to benefit rushdown players, because it is good for the audience. I would like to see Inflame's warrior/warlock/druid vs Realz's RMP under today's rule set, not throwing 12% more survivability into the mix.

The only way there will be an increase in "survivability" in s7 will be if they lower the damage scaling by a lot, but the impact on pve would be too great =\
