Opening night of the season, I was looking for a serious arena team and I got a message from Chumpjizzohn, hardly a fear inspiring name for a rogue and when he told me "let's do RMP with my mage", I was even less inspired.  RMP with an alt?  Really?  But I figured I needed a safety net for the first a couple of weeks so I agreed.  We finished 14-10 for the night, but one win was against Relentless Gladiator Zyzski's RMP, and they suffered DC's in a 3v2 easy win situation.  Their mage Pigheaded came to our vent and started to harass us verbally because we . . . took the win at the very high team rating of 500ish after they DCed, but that didn't prevent my mage/priest from pulling off an amazing 2v3 win against a 2300 MMR destruction lock/frost mage/druid.  So consider those two games really should have been losses, we were a .500 team.

Still, at that point I knew I wasn't playing with some random scrub.  Then next day it suddenly hit me, OMG I was playing with the legendary druid, Chumpjohn!  Known for his Brutal/Furious gladiator druid but plays three characters at gladiator level!  Apparently he read my previous blog about "lack of DPS" and saw I was missing some gear.  I told him I had barely under 10K gold and did not really want to blow it all for Wodin's Lucky Necklace for a moderate upgrade over Wrathful Gladiator's Pendant of Victory (which I didn't have yet).  He said he is going to get it for me, I asked how, he said "I am going to buy it from the AH and trade it to you".  I offered to pay him back as soon as I farm a bit more gold and he told me "don't worry about it" because he had too much gold.  WOW, even Estel couldn't believe it, she thought we were fishing buddies or something.  What an incredible gift and I couldn't believe he was so generous!  At the twilight of my career, a player of his level was so kind to me, he bought me such an expensive gift, I had tears in my eyes as I put it around my neck.

Wodin's Around My Neck, I Was Bling Bling

Fast forward to Saturday, our priest hasn't been on at all and Chumpjohn introduced me to the priest from his rogue's RMP, Zunniyaki.  A testament of Blackrock's roster depth, I thought our previous priest was sensational, but Zunniyaki took it to another level with his play calling and those people just came out of nowhere!  As good as Chumpjohn is, he hasn't played RMP for months and neither have I, having someone to lead the team and call out up-to-date strategies help so much.  I could see how the Hydra's, Numberone's and Bilian's lead their own RMP from the priest spot.  Zunniyaki fear had a very high tendency to land on the enemy paladin/priest the second our mage sheeped the warrior to prevent dispel's.  Whenever our mage was ready to shatter, he was almost always there to unload his own DPS and triple-DPS at the right moment is what WOTLK RMP is all about.  And of course, his dispels my roots/fears almost instantly.  His court vision was among the best I have seen and almost always called out the perfect swaps.  With his coaching we managed to beat almost every top team at least once, with a VERY raw RMP team!  Against the number one team of Hoodrych/Nadagast/FX, we hard opened on Nadagast the lock, blanket counter spell + blind on the druid and dropped him almost instantly!  Against Checksix's Prot Warrior/Hunter team, a paladin swap call sealed the deal.  While we will need more time to compete with the elite teams consistently, and I do need a fountain of youth to guard the Reckful/Zyzski/Woundman/Realz/Shivte's of BG9, we still ended the week 52 wins 28 losses, MMR at 2650, team rating at 2342 which puts us on the front page as of Monday evening!  Having two elite players on your team really makes one hell of a difference!

Donate A PC To Chumpjohn

But even more impressive is Chumpjohn.  A player of his caliber, playing off a Pentium 4 with 256MB memory, what hell?  I thought 256MB was video memory until I saw this screen shot, can you even run WOTLK off this thing?

Apparently such a beast is enough for him to get multiple rank 1 titles, with 10-15 frames in arena with lowest resolution/graphic details.  If I wasn't married with kid and have to report every expense to Estel, I was going to pull out my credit card and order a $300 PC from Ebay, toss in a $75 9600 GT and solve all of his problems.  However without senior management sign off, I have to be a little more creative so I am wondering if anyone on Blackrock horde (or will be willing to transfer) has an older PC they can donate to Chumpjohn?  He is in college and pressed for tuition so he just toughs it out.  I would love to see what he can do when he is playing on a normal PC.

With three gladiator level characters, enough gold to buy whatever item you want (he plays the AH like the stock market and makes huge profit off it), I am sure he can help you with something in exchange for your donation!  Please contact Chumpjohn/Chumpjohnson/Chumpjizzhon for details!  We are NOT asking for a brand new PC that runs Crysis Warhead at 60FPS here.  Almost anything that runs WOW at a normal level will do, I am sure someone of you has a rig you no longer use and if it is missing a piece or two, I can always chip in!

Luke 15:11-32: The Prodigal Son

And he said, "There was a wealthy woman who had two sons.  And the younger of them said to his mother, 'Mother, give me some dough so I can be a pro-gamer.' And she gave him enough money to get started.  Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far state, and there he squandered his savings to gaming addiction. And when he had spent everything, a severe recession arose in that country, he lost his sponsorship and he began to be in need. So he did whatever he could to continue to play the games he loved. And he was longing to be fed with the Hershey bars, and eventually, everyone quit on him.

But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my mother’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my mother, and I will say to her, "Mother, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I could not win a championship and am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of the hired Taurens in your nail salon."  And he arose and came to his mother. But while he was still a long way off, his mother saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.  And the son said to her, 'Mother, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I could not win a championship and am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of the hired Taurens in your nail salon.'  But the mother said to his servants, 'Bring quickly the cleanest shirt, and put it on him, and put an Ipod in his hand, and shoes on his feet.  And bring the fattened dog and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate.  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to celebrate.

Age 25 was the middle of a three year unemployment for me, when I went from breaking 100K in day trading to unpaid internship and eventually stopped looking.  WOW came along and it was my only escape from RL.  When I was in high school, I read Death of a Salesman for one of my English classes and did not understand how the hell could Willy's son steal a pen at a job interview.  How can someone be so stupid and cheat on those trying to help him?  Yet I got another day trading job after my previous shop closed its doors (and along with it, my confidence), made literally one trade on my first day, lost $100 and left, never went back again.  I got myself a real estate license and left my job as a rental agent two days into it, never returned any of my boss's calls.  I dated a girl who liked me even when I was at my low point, and I passed her up for the Ming of WOW.

Then I went to Vegas with a couple of my friends, one of my closest friends (who played a lot of WOW with me, I hit rank 14 and he finished at rank 12 before moving on to obtain a six figure job) was very upset about what I became, a shadow of my former self.  He provoked me at every turn, made fun of my downfall.  My savings went down a lot and I was very frugal and he was abusing me with comments like "if you were still making XXX a year you would not even flinch at that".

Finally, we got into a physical fight in the hotel room, and before I left the room, I was very angry and yelled at him "let's see who has higher net worth in 10 years!".  A month later, World of Ming was born.  Six months later, I landed my day job at one of the Fortune 500 companies.  I did not understand what my friend was trying to do for me.  I understand it now, and I truly appreciate it.

Serennia-sama has an even easier path to success than 90% of the people reading this site.  Yes, easier than Bodi, and easier than myself.  He obviously has the intelligence to be good at whatever he puts his mind into, and all he has to do, is inherit his family business.  His father was a doctor, his mother an entreprenuer, and he has strong siblings.

Sure, they say they gave up on him, but his family will always welcome him with open arms if he really wants to turn it around.  Serennia-sama's success in Aion/WOW tells me he is NOT lazy/stupid, in fact, the personal skills he used to persuade others (yes lying is a VERY valuable political skill) to offer shelter/food is something very few on this board can do.  Vance once said to me that I was like another father to him, whether that was his real feeling or not, I do believe his father's death meant a lot to him, and I do believe he will become the prodigal son.

When?  I don't know.  But I definitely don't believe there will be a Virginia Tech or Greyhound incident resulting from Bodi's post.  Serennia the prodigal son, believe it!

+1 to Ming for more extremely subtle name-dropping.  I need to start a blog so I can get good partners too.

I loved the blog, Ming... keep it up.  And agree... WOM has gotten so much better lately...

Vance has a mental illness and it's not grief related to his father's death.  He needs hospitalization and medication.  Many people lose parents and don't wind up not showering and pooping in socks.  Yes, he's been successful in a few limited activities, but, if the Bodi etc reports are true Vance is going to wind up in a psych hospital or dead in an alley.  Either one will happen in 2010.  Believe it.

I'm unsure about medication since he's dependent on enough already and adding drugs to that might only make things worse but hospitalisation for sure. Boosting his ego by saying hes intelligent seems like it would make his sociopathic nature even worse, I mean lets face it he can't be that intelligent if he couldn't make it through college.
I think he probably has that nerd aura, someone who could possibly do well on an IQ test but utterly useless at everything else.

failure to apply yourself doesn't mean you're unintelligent, it means you're lazy

you're confusing knowledge with intelligence, knowing a lot doesn't make you smart it just means you can absorb knowledge well (autistic people are very good at that). Applying knowledge in a productive way is what makes someone smart. A meathead football player has more smarts than Vance because he took what he had and turned it into success.

I'm really against psychiatric meds in most cases, but from the descriptions of the stories here, Vance could really use some meds.

Meds with the right therapist guiding him along perhaps. CBT has had a lot of success in recent years - http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_results.php?city=San+Antonio&state=TX&s6=1

Please don't ever suggest psychiatric "medication". It's extremely dangerous, and not many people are aware of the harms these drugs can cause to the symphathetic nervous system and to several vital brain functions.
The drugs also create physical dependance in the brain, which means quitting them again will cause withdrawal. Sometimes so severe that it's lifethreatening, and can put you out of normal human functioning for over 2-3 years. Yes, total disability. They can destroy you real good, and it can also take years to recover from an adverse reaction (adverse reactions with these drugs are very common and most suicides related to psych med use is caused by extrapyramidal side effects such as Akathisia which is a state of constant torment-like restlessness where you feel like you wanna crawl out of your skin and you have to pace around endlessly to keep suicidal urges at bay). This condition can become tardive (which means permanent).
Anti-psychotics (neuroleptica) can also cause other permanent sideeffects such as tardive dyskinesia which is an irreversible movement disorder closely resembling parkinsons.
Most of the effects are downplayed by the medical industry to retain profit. Your doctor or general practicioner might be unaware of the realities of these drugs and will prescribe them to you as if they are simple painkillers. This is because most of the info about the drugs that they are in possession of comes directly from the drug reps themselves.
In about 10 years people will look back on these drugs as being a very barbaric an inhuman way of treating mental disorders, much the same way as Lobotomy (the surgical procedure where you cut off the certain links in the frontal lobes in the brain that  was practiced as standard psyhicatry about 50 years ago, as seen in the movie One Flew over the Coocoo's nest).
Once you dig down in this, the way these drugs are manufactored, advertised and prescribed is a gigantic crime towards humanity.
If you wanna read real life cases, the internet is loaded with direct evidence of the harms these drugs can do.

why would a family that has no confidence in one of their sons give him the family fortune?

also i don't understand your career path ming.  you go from being unemployed day trading for years, to job to job, then end up at a fortune 500 company?  how exactly does that work?

fortune 500 companies have some rank and file people too. that's prolly where ming started before he got promoted. besides, even mcdonald is a fortune 500 company (nothing wrong with starting with low pay at mcdonalds before getting a promotion either)

yeah its just whenever someone says fortune 500 i tend to think making over $200k/year, wearing armani suits every day, and being very successful.

but you're right, theres a lot more to its rank and file than generalizing everyone being at the suit level.

It's cool that he you some nice gear and all, but I would much rather donate an extra computer to a school or something then an able-bodied individual who is too lazy to go out and earn an extra $350 to get one. If he REALLY wanted a newer computer he could easily have one. It isn't hard to get a temporary part-time job for a few weekends to earn $350.

I'm actually wondering if those specs are true. For someone who's main activity is WoW, he has to be some kind of masochist to run around with 10 FPS at 800x600 for the past 4 years. I mean can you even navigate in Dalaran with those specs?

I have to agree with the rest, this is a diamond in the wom rough; complete with Brokeback reference.

Also, I know the Walrus goes to UCI or w/e so I am assuming Chump is from the same area. I have an extra Intel quad core processor i'd be willing to part with for a cheap price :)
