By now, I am sure most of you have heard about Kyle P.'s post about all non-gaming related  now being instantly deleted without question. If not, here is the link, http://wowriot.gameriot.com/blogs/GameRiot-The-Blog/BREAKING-NEWS-Non-gaming-Blogging-to-End/ .

From reading the comments on that specific blog, I think it's safe to say that not a single person was actually against political ( as well as other non-gaming related, but at the very least well thought-out posts) blogs. With comments like:

uper;">" This is a gaming site. People should be coming here for gaming. This isn't the only website you have to visit... there are sites dedicated to other things. And of course, there are the forums for off topic whatever you feel like talking about. ",

there is obviously people who support the change, but not because they were off-topic posts in general, but because they were in WoWRiot.

While I think it is perfectly fair to expect gaming related blogs on a gaming site, in a portal thats spefic to a single game (I'll expand on that more later), why cant there be a place to discuss things, whether on actual games or not, with other gamers?  Is that not still gaming related?  Sure there are political blogs you can go to, and other places that have blogs that cover a wide variety of topics, but gameriot is the only place atleast that I know of whose userbase consists of almost entirely gamers.

Obviously a large majority of the readers are not exactly experts on politics, but that doesn't mean that they're opinion isn't valid, nor does it mean that it wouldn't ( possibly) represent the views of most of us gamers.  Whether we are extremely intellectual or not a place to discuss non-gaming related things amongst other gamers still is important, and I think gameriot to completely put an end to this ( not permanently as Kyle mentioned), is just ridiculous.  Non-gaming related discussion by people who are mostly gamers still IMO deserves a place on this site.

Now for actual solutions ( to this and to other problems I think the portal system creates):

1.  Create an off-topic or general discussion portal for people to post their non-gaming related blogs ( but still moderated to keep the garbage out of it, eg. http://wowriot.gameriot.com/blogs/IM-RIGHT-AND-UR-WRONG/dOnT-eVeN-tRiP-bRoSePh1/ )

2.  Make the WoW portal strictly WoW related, ( why call it a world of warcraft portal if it's going to be the portal for all other games other than SC2 and D3.).

3. Introduce a fifth portal that would house all of the blogs that do not relate to either WoW, SC2, or DIII, yet are still gaming related.

Like I said, its not really a bad thing to ask that stuff inside the WoW portal actually pertains to WoW. But if you are going to remove an aspect of this site that a large portion of its userbase enjoys, then give us a new spot to type it/read it in.

Lots of people like the change, it seems you were a bit selective in your reading of comments. Regardless, I want exactly what you listed above but the new site has taken longer than expected. So in lieu of ignoring all the complaints I've received lately I decided to take action. Its not permanent. I said that in the post and I've said that again and again in comments. I'm not certain how much more it needs to be said.

And lots of other people dont like the changes. My question is why cant it be just kept as a WoW community? I mean to be quite honest I dont see anything wrong with a political Blog here and there because its a nice break and mostly pretty good. I rarely see a good WoW post thats honestly solid enough to hold my attention for more then 2 secs because to be quite honest....they just plain suck. Yes theres a healthy amount of WoW blogs BUT some are either about whining, E-drama, or again...just plain suck.
I come to Gameriot to check up on anything new for Wotlk that came out in beta to the views and opinions of others in the WoW community that come here. Yes some of the blogs are pointless imo but because of these blogs and some people who came crying to you about them everything is affected. I understand that this is temporary to see how it goes but i feel you may be doing more harm then good. I think you should be moderating the trolls who plague the blogs here more then the blogs themselves (except Lusi because your trolling actually makes me laugh).
This is all jsut an opinion of course but hey isnt that what blogging is all about?

Because nobody gives cares what some kid thinks are the best 5 lesbian kisses, and it does nothing but belittle the site itself?
Just a little idea that took 2 seconds to formulate.

If you read the post, i showed ( atleast partly) that the reason people support this change is because they want the non-gaming related posts out of WoWriot, not neccessarily that htey dont like the pllitical posts.

The change is FINE.  Too many times have WoW related blogs been bumped out of the feed for McCain and Palin and anything related, which just should not be the case.

I'm all for a general feed with emphasis on it being small so as not to overshadow the blogs that are here for the site's purpose.  Seriously, I'm more interested in a blog about Inactive tearing **** up or trash talking than the millions of political blogs that I can find on Digg or the hundreds of other sites.

I think its safe to say you are wrong. Get rid of the damn political blogs. I don't care if you make a poliriot.com or whatever, i just don't want to see this garbage anymore on a gaming site. If i want to hear what bad wanabe pundits have to think all day i'll just watch cable tv. Hearing what Vir or Marsh have to say about the presidential race is worth about as much as listening to Heidi Montag's political views.

Unless you just got trolled really hard, comparing Vir to Marsh is pretty retarded.

both post right biased blogs in a left biased environment for no other purpose than to get a response, of course i'm being trolled! Thats why i agree with the decision for these troll posts to go.

How can you say someone's opinion is wrong?

ITs their opinion and they are entitled to it, seeing all the different GAMER's opinions on the stuff thats happening around us is interesting to me, and obviously others.

MAke a poliriot and let us discuss/read that stuff there, no one would be forcing you to visit.

I'm not arguing against your opinion. you stated a fact "not a single person was actually against policical blogs". And i countered with the fact that I, at least one single person, am against having political blogs on gameriot.

Also i did say i didn't care if you made a poliriot, if you read my reply at all. Keep gameriot GAMEriot and if people want to spend time reading political blogs on an extention of this site, doesn't bother me any.

So basically your saying exactly what I said in the actual blog.

Your against political blogs in Wowriot ( or starfeeder/hellforge) but not against political blogs in general, which is what I was trying to say.
