As you can see, the horde of Sargeras have taken the alliance portals prisoner in response to the lack of AV queues. They have even reached out to their Shadowburn brethern and asked them to make alts on the server to help.

Setting up camp.

At this point, there are so many people there it is hard to move because of the lag, so a GM shows up. As you can see from the screenshot, it is GM Mottfen. He begins to sleep and silence the people in the center of Shattrath. However, because of extreme lag, it is hard to leave this area, so many people are wrongfully silenced and frozen.
After a short while, people began to be kicked offline with little to no warning whatsoever. Usually when you encounter a GM, they give you their little song and dance. Usually they give you an explanation, or tell you to check your email for the reason. Hell, sometimes they might even do their job and use alternative measures to move crowds out of areas.
As more and more people started talking about how their friends were being banned with no reasoning or even a email to say how long - I grew worried. I decided to investigate through some very reliable sources that have insider information on the Blizzard GM staff. Apparently, there are usually "Shift Leads" that are on duty to manage what goes on. Through my source I was told:

VIVA LOS PORTAL RAID!?

EDIT: Fraps of the area has been provided. Will post if there is interest.

The GMs froze the people of Shatt so more couldn't go to block it off.
They banned people because it's disrupting game play, go read the ToS.
Your "inside source" is stupid, and is clearly made up.
The GMs did the right thing, get over it.
I'm sure you play alliance and had to go to Darnassus. You probably yell "reported" in trade chat too all the time.
Sorry, I don't play on trash realms. Nice try.
Blocking portals is only griefing, therefore at-least people could legitly get a temp-ban.
Certainly, he didn't say, "ban," specifically, but it should've been rather obvious.
The fact is, the Horde was acting heavy-handedly, and the GM responded in kind. Putting on a clinic, so to speak.
