I need a new headset. With a baby in the house i had to turn to a headset. And the 15 dollar logitechs just arent any good, but worked for the time being.

I got the moola so just looking for a really good set in the 75-100 dollar range that will give me hte same sound as my 5.1's and will have a good mic built in that doesnt sound like im living in a wind tunnel when i talk.

For big headsets that cover the whole ear and provide optimal positional sound I think these are good choices:

Fatal1ty's
http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=493&subcategory=496&product=16337

Razer's
http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/reviews-76.html

Steelpad's
http://www.xoxide.com/steelpad-usb5h-gaming-headset.html

ear fatigue is a big thing for me though, as I have pretty big ears and even before an hour heat and weight makes these bigger phones a pain on me, but sound quality is amazing.

Personally I like simple Sony/Logitec loop arounds...
So for me these work great as I can wear them all day long, and its easy to talk to or hear say a team member who is sitting next to you:

Yeah, I love the xbox live headsets that were made to break.  Another "give you the razors, so you have to buy the blades" type situation I suppose!?

What do you think of turtle beach.

I steer shy of anything with someones gamer tag on it like a baseball jersey. They jack the price up merely because of whos on it. They could still be really good Headphones, but chances are its overpriced for what it has to offer simply because it has fatal1ty's name on them.  (Talking about the fatality headphones)

The baracud'as are nice, but prolly alittle more than i wanna spend.

Here's the set I use :

I find them extremely comfortable and the sound quality is solid, at least for my ears.

Plantronics is the brand to check out and no I'm not saying this just because Pandemic is sponsored by them. I've used many different pairs of headsets and feel they have the best price/performance ratio.

If you have a decent/quality sound card:
.Audio 370 -- http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/cat640035/cat1430032/prod5500011

It's one of the most comfortable headsets I've ever used and has better quality than many of the other headsets I've used. On Buy.com (right now it is) $30 - $10 from Google Checkout = $20 + tax.

---

If you think you need a better sound card or have a terrible integrated one:
.Audio DSP 550 --
http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/cat640035/cat1430032/prod5500015

Although it is not as comfortable as the 370's it definitely has amazing sound performance due to its DSP software. Currently it is $57 - $10 from Google Checkout = $46 + tax.

I also have to tell you that I have tried out all of the following headsets and use my .Audio 370's because I prefer them (of course this is just my personal opinion): Icemat Siberia's (with USB sound card and without), SteelSound 5H and 5H v2 (again with USB sc and without), Sennheiser PC 150, Sennheiser HD457, Plantronics .Audio 90, Plantronics .Audio 360, and even a pair of Logitech USB Premium Headset. I feel that the only headset(s) I've used to has superior performance and comfort to the .Audio 370's would have to be Sennheiser's HD555 and HD595, but those headsets are about $100 and $200, respectively depending on where you purchase it from.

Plantronics, reasonable prices for amazing headsets

I hated pretty much all the Plantronics headsets. It didn't really have anything to do with the actual performance of them I just didn't like the design ( the Icemat Siberia design with the band that is elastic attached to it at the top ) I much rather use the SteelSound 5H v2 USB..especially since it comes with a soundcard - good for people that attend LAN events.

Sennheisers are INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE and the sound quality is amazing, Ive easily gone through 200$ worth of headsets every year and used planatronic/logitech/sennheiser and The sennheiser is definatly what im spending all my future money on.  They are great quality and 100% worth a try
