So according to Hektik's logic:

Obama dragged his whole photo crew over to take pictures that benefited himself.
(Never to show that the ban is lifted and what these wars ultimately produce, dead bodies. Maybe some of it was for selfish reasons, it's good to show that you care.)

Bush banned photos of dead soldiers so that the families would be protected.
(The ban was never used to supress the anti-war movement or stop families who wanted to show what the war does.)

Leave it to our commander and chief to never miss a photo-op chance, no matter how disgusting it may be.  I applaud the 17 of 18 families that turned his photo-op retardation down.

And the NY Times changing their story is really priceless...

A small contingent of reporters and photographers accompanied Mr. Obama
to Dover, where he arrived at 12:34 a.m. aboard Marine One. He returned
to the South Lawn of the White House at 4:45 a.m.

<…>

The images and the sentiment of the president’s five-hour trip to
Delaware were intended by the White House to convey to the nation that
Mr. Obama was not making his Afghanistan decision lightly or in haste.

I love this little part at the end. It doesn't matter if he is making the decision lightly or not. What matters is HOW IT APPEARS he feels about the decision. People run on emotions and have been conditioned to do so.

If you don't understand why all public figures and politicians need to think about how they appear to the general population then you're a idiot. I guess after reading your hunter blogs i shouldn't be suprised.

It's most definitely not something new Hektik, but considering current events, and how easily real information is accessible these days, do we want to really use the excuse that this isn't anything new?

I guess arguing for less partisanship on a gamer forum is a pretty stupid idea on my part.

just bolding the valid parts of your post, the rest is pretty much nonsense or adds no value

"You make it sound like this is something new."

Kind of how I feel about this whole thread: "The president is using something for his own benefit. This is unprecedented!" (Irony)
This is political strategy.

Then again I don't think this is really about what the president does for good PR but rather that the military is a touchy subject and holds a kind of holiness (if you will) to Americans.

The military doesn't hold a kind of holiness to Americans.  (At least not to me.)

But I think anyone (except Obama) can respect the privacy of the dead and can honor those who have fallen.  That's what it is really about.  He turned a ceremony that is done to honor the fallen for their sacrifice into a dog and pony show.

All it was missing was midgets shoving their way out of a clown car!

I didn't realize that paying your respects to fallen soldiers was a shameless act. Perhaps he wants to actually shine a public eye on the bull **** that is happening? I love how Liz Cheney said, "What President Bush used to do was do it without the cameras", well *****, if it wasn't for Bush and your retarded husband he wouldn't have to do it at all, nor would Obama, now would he?

Regardless of what Obama does the racists and right wing bigots will search for something to complain about, and spin in a negative way. I bet you're one of the guys that looked at Joe Wilson's booing as patriotic, right?

It's obvious from every single post you make on Obama, Health Care, and just about everything regarding politics where your allegiance lies.
Another Cali-idiot, move to cuba you ****in commie.  Don't you see what socialism does just by looking at your failed state?

I think this is a classic case of "over-reaction."

I'm easily one of the more vociferous critics of Obama, but even this one is a tad overstated.

Far more important things to complain about - this is an idiotic and senseless distraction.
