Gameriot has spoken with eMg's manager Matt Marcou and player Scott
“evolution” Cavallero, as well as x3o manager Nick Fitz and player Matt
"PaTyoJoN" Lancosta about the KODE5 finals, Jordon "n0thing" Gilbert's team change, and
the future for both teams.
One of x3o's core players, Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert, unexpectedly left
the team last week for eMg. X3o's loss (and eMg's win) could be
directly to blame on Gilbert's exit, as they were forced to … More

Thanks to the end of the cold war and now open communication with mother Russia, we have the ability to purchase ridiculously expensive keyboards that previously were thought not to exist.
Art. Lebedev Studio has released yet another price point for the full-sized Optimus Maximus Keyboard and with it they have actual working units out in the open. Sitting with a very pricey $1,500 USD price tag, the keyboard does look very nice with its 113 mini OLED screens. While the funct… More

My best of CES marketing slogan goes to the following:
"I love clean butt"
I saw this and couldn't help but laugh my ass off. The slogan is not only priceless but the image just has that happy go lucky feel to it (note the woman on the end receiving a watery blast)
Basically its a company that makes toilet bowl add-ons that spray water on your unclean anus. For a quick overview check out another company that offers something similar here. This p… More

Sony is offering up something for you Blu-Ray fans out there. While some companies are offering up standalone players that will be under $300 next quarter, Sony has offered up a desktop PC BD-Rom drive so that you can start to watch all your favorite Blu-Rays.
That's right, I said BD-ROM, no writing gigantic backups just yet. However, priced at $199, one can't really complain. These babies will hit the market next month, but you can pre-order them here.
The BDU-X10S… More

It seems this is the year for solid state hard drives. Those of you not familiar with these I will give you a quick recap. Solid state hard drives are flash based, think USB thumb drives, memory cards, Ipods, that are blazing fast and have no moving parts. Only problem? You may need to mortgage your house or skip a house payment to afford some of the various sizes.
The main benefits for gamers entail super fast map loads, and all around better hard drive performance. These even outperfo… More

While some of you may enjoy your Nintendo Wii Virtual Console or the XBL Arcade, I know that there are some of you, like me, who have stacks of cartridges at home begging to be played again. Unlike me, some of you may not be nerdy enough to still own fully working consoles. Well, here you are:
This baby offers full compatibility with both 8-bit and 16-bit games for the NES and SNES. The company behind the console does make other versions with other combinations o… More

Yoggie Security Systems press release touts the company as the world's first hardware based computer security solution. How does it work? Instead of running firewalls and anti-virus programs on your computers the company uses a USB thumb drive with a mini computer installed on it. This apparently will block internet threats before they get to your machine, and increasing your machines performance by off loading these tasks to Yoggie's hardware.
The flagship USB drive… More

One thing that seems to be creeping up everywhere are 3D displays for gaming and even television and video. Companies like Trimon, IZ3D (which we reviewed at FPSLabs), and Samsung are displaying this technology as the next step in video interaction. But is it? Are 3D displays something that appeals to you guys out there? Would you play your games with glasses on just for a 3D like experience?
The Samsung technology was the best out of all that we tested here. But that is to be expecte… More

Sometimes you can find odds and ends stuff around the smaller venues that you may easily skip past as they don't have gaudy and expansive displays. We went by TN Games today where they were featuring the 3rd Space Vest. A gaming vest? What the heck right? It was a bit odd at first to get used to but the basic premise is a vest using air compression to impact your body in 4 locations in the front and or the back in relation to where you are hit in game.
The developers stated it… More

We showed you a new style of keyboard yesterday from Belkin and today we visited the Zalman booth and something immediately caught our eye, the FPS Gun. While Zalman is notorious for normal hardware like fans and coolers this was a interesting change of pace for them creating a periphrial. The gun acts like a mouse in the sense that it has a optical sensor and tracks on your desk/mouse pad/etc. However as you can see it also looks kind of like a joystick. There are two trigger buttons that act like mouse1 and mouse2, a scroll wheel which resides right where your thumb rests, buttons above your thumb which can act as mouse3 and mouse4. … More

Gizmodo has fantastic article up regarding the end of the world.
I have to say that I wholeheartedly agree with most, if not all of what Adam said. Quite frankly, Vegas is a double edge sword of glitz and glam masking what is a pretty depressing underbelly. Everything costs an exorbitant amount of money and moving from one place to the next can cost even more.
CES should be a showcase of innovation and surprising announcements, but has become a mountain of gimmick … More

HP is running a massive booth this year that featured their Blackbird PCs which of course were featured in the machinma contest right here at Gameriot. I've seen them promo pics as I am sure many of you have. I check them out and go "meh, that looks nice, but really I wouldn't get one". Me being a hardware enthusiast I always build my own stuff. However after seeing them in person now they no longer equate to a "meh", they definitely up the "wow" factor and produce a similar response. … More

Over-protective mothers who have nothing better to do than gossip and complain have joined together with fathers who were never really men in the first place in yet another effort to blame violence on video games. The latest: Wii Zapper is training today's youth to be "Ultimate Killing Machines." First off, let me point out that only ninjas have real ultimate power.
A company by the name of CTA Digital has decided that the proper response is to add more realism and variety … More
