There was some big news last week that I skipped over while being gone but this is one tidbit I won't fail to mention even if many of you saw it already. Final Fantasy XIII finally has a release date in North America, Europe and even Australia all on the same day. Even the Aussies aren't being denied this time, call me impressed.
You can watch the snazzy announcement trailer above or you can simply skip over all of the new footage, the interviews and production to find out that Final Fantasy XI… More
No Snow and Lighting aren't planning a night out on the town full of fine cuisine, hot tubs and industrial-sized lube. What we do have instead however is a release date in Japan for Final Fantasy XIII.
News leaked out over the weekend via an ad on Youtube and confirmation came early this morning during a Square Enix press conference that December 17th, 2009 is in fact the release date of FFXIII. What does that mean for a North America release? Your guess is as good as mine though they confir… More
Look out deer and the black folk of the Final Fantasy world, Sarah Palin is on the prowl? Well not quite but quite a few folks feel the above villain who can also be seen below looks a lot like the president you all wish you had (lol).
This Sarah-wannabe headlines a batch of new screen shots courtesy of Famitsu because they get all the cool crap in regards to Japanese-based games. All seen below is more details regarding the battle system including mentions of "optima", "change" and "driving … More
There has been a bunch of Final Fantasy XIII news lately and saving these recent updates for a nice sizable blog for your consumption. I'll try to be chill, but it is a Monday/Tuesday so don't expect me to be drinking.
First up is news on the upcoming battle system courtesy of Kotaku. Producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Motomu Toriyama gave them a nice walk-through of a demo and explained some of the new and old features that are incoming. The Active Time Battle system is key to the gam… More
Most of the press conferences at E3 2009 are now a thing of the past and it is time to take a look and what worked, what didn't, who won and and who slipped up. I did this last year as well if you want to see those results. These are your E3 winners and losers.
The Biggest Announcement
I have to go with the announcement of Final Fantasy 14. This shocked pretty much everyone at the show and it was one of the few things that didn't leak out in advance. Square-Enix has stated it may eventually co… More
"No whammies, no whammies, bring on God of War 3!" Yes it is time for Sony's press conference at E3 2009. Don't forget about Nintendo's from earlier today and Microsoft's from yesterday.
Stay tuned for updates. Sony has a hell of a show from Microsoft to topple. Seems to be a slight delay so far. Not sure what the deal is. Be sure to catch up on my hopes and expectations for the Sony show here.
And we are off... video montage of some games. Red Dead, Ratchet, Prototype, Brutal Legend, Arkha… More
This is part three of four of my Pre-E3 series highlighting next week's E3. Nintendo and Microsoft were already discussed leaving the granddaddy of them all, the PC, for this weekend. I will be covering Sony's plans for the next year, E3 expectations and what we can hope to see at the show.
Last year I felt Sony had the best showing at E3 even though Microsoft stole the show with their Final Fantasy 13 announcement. Sony brought better games and like Kotaku has shown they pretty much lived up … More
I have so much I want to do (unpack, play InFamous, play the TF2 update and work on my E3 stuff) but there is plenty of interesting news to cover in the past few days so here is a little update with some random gaming news. InFamous hits stores today. My copy is sitting on the title screen and I am itching to play it. Reviews have been solid so far with the game holding a 88% on Gamerankings. I should have a review sometime this week or next. My impressions were pretty high after the demo how… More
I was really hyped up to play the Final Fantasy 13 demo when it came with the Advent Children Blu-ray release here in the states, much like it did in Japan recently selling like hot cakes.
Unfortunately for us the good news pretty much stops there. Japan, like usual, gets the goodies while we get the Gunblade-sized shaft here in North America. Yoshinori Kitase, producer on FF13, told Video Gamer that the demo will not be coming to the states on Blu-ray and in fact there are no definite plans f… More
The Square Enix buyout of Eidos is official and Lara Croft and the Chocobos now share the same home. Don't get any dirty ideas, Lara probably doesn't swing that way.
The interesting news came out of the deal thanks to some financial reports on the two companies. Sales numbers for all sorts of titles were disclosed including many of the two companies key franchises.
The big news of course is lifetime Final Fantasy sales. You figure 12 core titles and numerous spin-offs and what do you come up … More
I linked to the live Justin.TV stream last night but unfortunately it stopped broadcasting not too long after and few people got to see it.
The good news is that today there are a bunch of clips on Youtube and you can watch a good chunk of the demo right here. Final Fantasy 13's demo came out today in Japan and hopefully, cross your fingers, will come with Advent Children Complete here in June as well.
Normally I wouldn't post something this small but I love Final Fantasy and posting it in a video upload won't work. I think quite a few of you out there dig the series as well so some of you may want to check this out. The first live footage we have of Final Fantasy 13 in game. Not silly trailers, crappy images, the actual game!
The demo isn't out until April 16th but someone is broadcasting it live for your viewing pleasure on Justin.tv.
The Lightning part seems to be over now as he has move… More
