The GGL has launched the official website for the 2008 Digital Games, asking their opinion from the community on game choices as well as revealing the official mascots. Regional qualifying ladders will start in April across seven regions around the globe. The Global Gaming League (GGL) is back again with their Players of the Year list. The list is voted on by the gaming press and includes the best players from Counter-Strike 1.6, WarCraft 3, and Quake 4. This one is for 2007 and what is interesting is that, for the first time in the history of the award, two players will be sharing an award. The award is the WarCraft 3 Revelation of the Year, and the players are none other than Creolophus and June “Lyn” Park. Both received the same number of points after having an incredible year. … More

Since ESWC announced some time ago that they would be using Quake 3 as their 1v1 DM game, tournaments for the game have sprung up to take advantage of players getting ready for the big event. These tournaments had great turn outs, and, as expected, some amazing matches took place to remind everyone just why ESWC chose Quake 3 again. The GGL has announced the nominees for it's 2007 Player of the Year awards. Each year, the most prominent eSports sites are invited to vote for their choices across three games and multiple categories. Games included are Quake, Counter-Strike 1.6, and WarCraft III. Categories for each include player of the year and revelation of the year (except in Quake where only PotY is present). For those who don't know, Carmac, formerly of the GGL and now of SK-Gaming, called out GotFrag.com for not writing an article about the CPL's prize payment issues. Midway wrote a response to Carmac, giving his opinion on the matter but also acknowleding that a mistake was made.
