It isn't quite the Midnight Riders but I suspect fans of the first Left 4 Dead might be much more thrilled with Valve's latest idea for DLC.
Valve let word fly today via press release that Zoey, Bill, Francis and Louis will soon be coming to a down-south town near you in Georgia. "The Passing" is an upcoming release of downloadable content for your zombie-slashing pleasure. The DLC will feature not only the new cast of Left 4 Dead 2 but the original survivors as well.
Left 4 Dead 2 is now about a week old and I feel I have spent enough time with the various game modes to sit back and evaluate my overall thoughts on the game and pass along another edition of "Slap's Take".
Last year brought us a solid effort from Valve in the form of Left 4 Dead. Opinions varied but the general consensus was that Valve had pulled off a defining FPS title with based on zombies with a tough of survival horror and Co-Op action. If there was one drawback from the first game tha… More
Super Street Fighter 4 is coming in March and that can be good or bad news depending on you take it. If you aren't down with paying for new characters and features then you may not be all that excited for it. If you don't mind coughing up cash for new spin on a future classic they you get the pleasure of an updated roster and some new game modes.
The good folks at Famitsu (via way of Siliconera) have some images of three new characters all from Street Fighter Alpha 3. Guy, Adon and Cody are th… More
My Left 4 Dead 2 review should be coming early next week but in the mean time you can hold yourself over with some awesome news regarding the southern-rock quartet, the Midnight Riders.
Those of you that have played through Dead Carnival may have had the joy of playing the finale featuring the rocker's stage act and pyrotechnics show at the end of the campaign. There are numerous references to the band through the course of the campaign and it all peaks with you slaughtering the zombie horde o… More
I bring to you a link to the torrent for Dead Before Dawn. A L4D mod that has been in development since before L4D released. Based on the amazing Dawn of the Dead setting, DBD takes place in the Crossroads Mall. From what I gather this is an entire campaign. I wont be surprised if this turns out leagues b… More
The PC demo for Left 4 Dead 2 finally dropped this past evening after close to half a dozen delays over the course of the day, me complaining and flames throughout the Steam Forums. Valve time may have struck again but we can all rest easy playing the demo today and preparing for the launch of the full game in a couple of weeks.
This will be my micro-review of the demo which is pretty small itself but enough to give some first impressions.
The new special infected are an off-the-wall good time, I… More
There is great news for you Left 4 Dead fans out there today and I can hardly contain my joy for all of you.
The Left 4 Dead 2 boycott has been a stunning success. You may remember way back when fans first announced they would fight the oppressors at Valve and offered up a list of demands. Valve went on to quell the fears and they insisted they would continue to support the original game. The launch of the Crash Course DLC seems to have appeased the rising power of the boycott and they got wha… More
The Left 4 Dead news continues to roll in thanks to L4DMods and Ian over at Hellforge. Click the above image for the full campaign poster.
First up is news on the awesome Crossroads Mall map which has been in progress before Left 4 Dead even came out. The map was ported over to the game and since the SDK came out the crew behind the mod has been fast at work trying to get the game out in to your autoshotty-loving hands. According to the story last week they are certain that at least maps 1-5 w… More
I'll try to beat the haters to the joke, "wasn't the demo Left 4 Dead 1, ahuhuckhuck". With that being said it is almost time to gear up for some new means of zombie destruction.
Today at an EA press conference in Tokyo Valve's Kim Swift confirmed that a demo for Left 4 Dead 2 is on the way. This should be awesome news for fans of the series and further haterade for those rallying against it, if they can even stick to their guns at this point. The show will go on however, boycott or not, lea… More
Remember all that *****ing and whining around the time of E3 over Left 4 Dead? Remember when Valve was "abadoning" all the Left 4 Dead fans for the greener pastures of the sequel? Remember how they promised DLC and wait... did deliver?
Yes a new campaign is coming from the crew at Valve for the original Left 4 Dead. Crash Course is the name and Destructiod has an exclusive preview. I doubt this will quell all the complainers as surely the next excuse will be "it's not enough", "we deserve mor… More
Some cool news regarding Valve's upcoming sequel to Left 4 Dead dropped yesterday courtesy of GameSpy. They are first lucky survivors in the public to have their shot at the upcoming Swamp level in Left 4 Dead 2. They have a handful of new video footage to sort through as well one of such clips you can see below.
Notice anything cool? If you haven't read the article yet you may not have caught the first mention of the second of the three to four new special infected named the Spitter. At arou… More
Clicking this image will take you to a NSFW version. You have been warned!
Look out Lara Croft, there is a new gaming heroine reaching for the nudity crown. In what should come as no surprise to anyone, someone has created a near nude in-game model for Left 4 Dead's Zoey. This Zoey "ravaged by zombies" model will probably appeal to fan of the Left 4 Head series.
A gent by the name of Root Overlord has posted this mod on his website which I am sure some of you will check out once you are d… More
Since E3 the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2 has some fans clamoring for the sequel and others up in arms ready to boycott the title. I covered this last week and addressed the boycott group which at the time was a mere 3,000 or so. Now this group, of which I bet many will still buy the game, is now upwards of 27,000.
Valve isn't oblivious to the internet and they have surely been following this group and the media. Kotaku finally got a chance to talk to Gabe Newell and set some of the rumors … More
Valve and Left 4 Dead fans are preparing to boycott (lol) the sequel to everyone's favorite zombie-filled game. I wanted to sit and stew on this piece for a few days because my initial reaction to the game was utter shock over the rapid turn around on a sequel and because it looked quite nice.
If you haven't followed the boycott news I will catch you up real quick. This forum thread started it off over at the Steam forums. This thread's list of complaints and the supporters moved on to creat… More
