Why has gameriot become so sucky lately? It's actually very simple. I blame one man for this.
Ming.
Ming, who even Jasi admits, is the biggest troll on Gameriot (if you don't see this, you're an idiot) and this, coupled with several other factors, hasn't benefited the site at all.
As Vir has proven time and again, making **** posts with no content but either a sensitive issue, or a "hot topic" gets you the hits. This is pretty obvious, and coupled with a great Digg feature, can easily get you t… More
With the Caucasus Crisis hopefully having reached it climax, what is there to learn from the incident? What has changed, what will remain the same? First I'd like to reiterate some thoughts from my last blog, on what initiated the conflict.
Georgia was overconfident about her military capabilities, or to be precise, overconfided in her new found ally: the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. With the American President G. W. Bush looking to expand his sphere of influence as far and wide as possib… More
Contrary to my last two blogs, I'm going to advocate hating instead of stopping it. Why, you may enquire, this sudden change of heart? If you so would, I'd reply that whenever there's a courteous bow involved, there's always an equal and opposite mooning taking place as well. Therefore it would be rather ignorant and hypocritical of me to pretend all I ever wanted to do was be nice to people when I'm perfectly aware of the rude gestures I keep making. On with it, in any case.
I'm sure that on seeing this title, most people in the western world would have a fit. Here on Gameriot most people probably just think it's a troll. Well friends, this blog is 91.56 % serious. However, the title might not mean what you think it means. Most people would assume that the title is talking about the holocaust - an event that saw the mass extermination of 6 + million Jews. Well, that isn't the case. The policy that I'm advocating is something else - something that is, perhaps, even darker than the holocaust. I speak, of course, of the building of autobahns (or motorways). … More
I think people are losing perspective with all this China hating. If it were some other, non-emerging-superpower country holding the games, it would be considered rude to toss so much **** their way. Even in the finnish stream of the opening ceremony the commenters were dropping lines such as "well this is a rather nice show with a ton of effort put towards it, but they really do have problems with human rights and pollution which they do not portray at all". Damn those chinese for painting an idealistic picture of their country, I mean look at how us westerners are straight up and honest: the Italians in 2006 revealed the world how their politicians are all corrupt and most of the country is run by organized crime, and in 2002 in the american ceremony the bulk of the showcase was an outlook on the life of illegal immigrants, gang members and the pupils of Harlem Junior High.… More
Controversial, I know. I mean, blowing **** up is pretty cool, so surely blowing **** up even more is even cooler, right? Wrong, bro. You see, the nuke gets in the way of what Western countries do best: annex smaller, weaker countries. Invading other countries was very popular from 1700 to 1950 AD. It was a golden age. Britain controlled a quarter of the world, a bunch of people too stupid to invent metallurgy got their ***** kicked and Hitler blitze… More
I've been seeing a lot of posts and comments with "x about y sucks" and "x really needs to change y" and, I'm sure you have too. What I want to ask you is, what exactly do you want to see from an MMO?
Do you side with slapnuts, where you would like to see brand new content every few months, even if it is just a alternative gear set, or a new dungeon? Or, maybe you are looking for something much more every month, such as new zones and quests?
Maybe you would be happy with a balanced, easygoin… More
Just like most grinds, the GR XP system starts off easy, reeling you in with fast level ups and the massive ego boosts they bring. Since attaining level 33 girls have thrown themsleves at me, seas have parted at my feet and Metallica sent me a letter apologising for selling out. If anyone's wondering, that list goes from least likely to happen to most. Anyway, the point is that I want more. But the time investment required is insane. I spend hours at work trolling GR to no avail. I am still level 33. It seems there is no place on GR for blogging casuals like myself; the GR staff cater only to the hardcore bloggers like Vir, TehJerk and Nobbeh. Casuals deserve XP, too.… More
We showed you a bit of id's upcoming FPS game Rage during E3. Now there is more footage to gawk at thanks to this weeks QuakeCon going on right now.
No date on the game yet so don't ask. It is using the latest id Tech Engine 5 and should look nice and snazzy.
So what do you guys think? Looks better than Doom 3 and Quake 4 imho, gameplay wise just from this limited footage we are seeing. It looks like a mix between Mad Max and Quake, and there is nothing wron… More
