Apparently the Beatles/Harmonix collaboration will be its own stand alone game, separate from the Rock Band platform.  No word if any Beatles tracks will make the transition over to Rock Band.  They are shooting for music hardware compatibility with Rock Band however. 

Hrm, not really sure if I am a fan of this idea.  I would be more tempted to buy Beatles tracks in RB2 than I would a solo game.

This is entirely badass, absurd, overpriced yet extremely cool looking all at the same time.  This is Logitech's premium Guitar Hero: World Tour guitar.

Apparently this will make you the envy of all your friends as you will definitely have the coolest-unneeded accessory for your music gaming fetish.

Word on the street is that Rock Band is going country.  CMT (Country Music Television for those who don't give a damn about country like me) apparently announced it at some point on the tube.  When posted on the forums a Harmonix developer confirmed the news stating:

"Furthermore, this thread blows my mind. With so many genres represented in Rock Band already, why would the addition of Country be such a huge shock? We'll have Country in RB sooner or later"

Music games are where the money is. Everybody and their brother has one in the works - and they're mostly Guitar Hero rip-offs. In a perfect world there'd be a Rhythm Heaven for every Alvin and the Chipmunks, or an Elite Beat Agents to counter-act the sheer cheese of every Guitar Praise. Sadly, this just isn't the case. Giant Realm hopes to help stem the tide of High School Musical and Hannah Montana shovelware by suggesting seven music games that need to happen and pronto.

This is a follow-up to a blog I wrote some time ago here at Gameriot on the battle of plastic musical band games.  Guitar Hero World Tour is due out next month and Rock Band 2 hit the 360 this past week.  The full bundle for RB2 won't be out till next month when it comes out for the PS3 as well.  With both games heading in to the home stretch it is time to see how they both stack up.

Some big news brewing on the horizon today in the gaming industry.  Read on for the scoop.

It seems Square Enix is readying to make a friendly purchase of Tecmo.  Tecmo hasn't fallen on the best of times of late and this would be a wise move on their part.  I question if DOA and Ninja Gaiden are all that valuable, though maybe this could bring Itagaki back to Team Ninja?

It seems the developer fighting and incompatibility of music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band will be soon be over at least on the Playstation 3 front.

Sony updated their blog today noting that all of the next games like Guitar Hero: World Tour, Rock Band 2 and Konami's Rock Revolution will "for the most part" all work together like a nice happy family.
